BookClub is the world’s first virtual book club platform that facilitates life-changing conversations led by authors themselves. We are creating an entirely new way for readers to connect and discuss the books they love with authors, celebrity hosts, and key partners. About this role

We are looking for an experienced VP/Director of Finance and Accounting to own and build our finance and accounting functions. This is a highly-visible role with strong growth opportunities. This role will report directly to the COO. 

What you’ll do

  • Run the annual/quarterly budgeting and planning processes
  • Own the financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis 
  • Own all internal and external financial reporting to stakeholders 
  • Own the recommendations, management, and scale of our financial systems
  • Own tracking and reporting of partner (e.g. host, author) revshare payments and accruals 
  • Manage and ensure timely payments to all vendors, partners, and talent 
  • Manage select vendor negotiations, contract management, and approvals 

Who we are seeking 

  • A deep love for learning and books and a great sense of humor 
  • A CPA and 8-10+ years of experience in finance and accounting 
  • Experience in Media/Technology 
  • Experience in early-stage ventures is a HUGE plus
  • Experience owning and managing financial operations, tools (QBO, NetSuite), and processes
  • Experience with revenue share/royalty payments, forecasting, and accounting
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and be both a player and coach
  • Ability to handle work at the 50k-foot level and dive down with scalpel-like precision at the ground level
